Highlights:

  • It’s flat. There are a few elevation changes here and there but overall its a nice level grade. Easy to walk, bike, pull a trailer or push a stroller. PS: roller blades, skateboards, push scooters and other non-motorized transportation are allowed -but it is gravel.

  • The North end runs along the water. The views are fantastic and there are small beaches along the way.

  • It’s part of the community. You’re not heading out to the toolies for this adventure; it’s a short drive, there are things to do along the way and the risk of bumping into an angry member of our wildlife community is low.

  • Dogs are allowed. Dogs are welcome on the trail leashed plus there are designated off-leash areas.

  • There are bathrooms. Ok, not real bathrooms, but there are outhouses along the trail.

  • It’s open all year. In the winter, many people snow shoe or ski the trail.

There is no one way to do the Rail Trail. Some use it to get their work out on, others to dilly-dally in the fresh air… but if you’d like to make a field trip out of it, there are some fantastic things to do along the way. And there are really only two rules:

✔ Pick up after your dog

✔ Keep right and allow faster traffic to pass you
